Prioritize your Goals with this Goal Setting Activity

A common failure of goal setting is that people set too many goals. This goal setting activity gets you to prioritize your goals.

When you think of the many areas of your life it is likely that you may have a number of goals. These goals may be associated with family, career, personal growth and many other areas of your life that you want to succeed in.

You may find that you have many goals in these different areas – and if you do then that is great. However working on all of your goals at once will reduce your focus and effort on each of your goals and probably overwhelm you with the number of tasks to complete.

This is a common cause of goal setting failure.

Lets take a closer look at your goals and prioritize them so that you can focus your time and effort on those goals that are most important to you.

Activity 1

Do you have a vision of what you want to achieve in different areas of your life. If you do then it is likely that you may have several goals in each area. These areas may include family, career, financial, health goals and other areas that are important to you.

Activity 2

Rank each of the goals that you have set. Use the ABC system, in which Priority A goals are goals that are most important to you. Priority B is somewhat important and Priority C goals are goals that are not really important to you.

Since you want to concentrate your attention on goals that are most important to you, examine in more detail your Priority A goals.

Rank your Priority A goals in terms of importance. Choose 3 goals that are most important to you. To maintain balance in your life, try to ensure that these three important goals come from different areas of your life.

It is these 3 goals that you want to focus your time and effort on achieving.

With your 3 goals, spend time trying to make them SMARTer, and also download your free goal setting template and action plan to get started on achieving your goals.
